POLO Conducts Advocacy Campaign for the SPIMS program
Abu Dhabi - The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Abu Dhabi, in coordination with the Philippine Professional Organization (PPO) specifically the National Organization of Professional Teachers Inc. (NOPTI - UAE) and the Filipino International Teachers Society (FITS), conducted an advocacy campaign for the “Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am/Sir” (SPIMS) Program last November 22, 2019 at Novotel Hotel & Resorts, Abu Dhabi.
The SPIMS Program was lodge under the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), the government agency mandated to develop, promote, and implement national agenda on sustainable return and reintegration of OFWs. The SPIMS Program is intended to OFWs who are also Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET) passers that are willing to practice their profession as Teacher 1 for elementary and junior high school in various public schools in the Philippines. This program is in response to the call of the Department of Education (DepEd) in hiring more public school teachers nationwide to support the full implementation of the K-12 program and government’s thrust to bring home OFWs to be with their families with gainful employment. Eligible applicants must be an OFW-LET passer and have not stayed or resided in the Philippines for more than three (3) years and depending on the applicant’s teaching experience, he/she may be required to undergo an Online Refresher Course (ORC).
