Abu Dhabi – The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Abu Dhabi conducted a training program on paper craft making which was intended for the wards at the Migrant Workers and other Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC).
There were a total of twenty (20) wards accommodated for the training which was held on 4 and 11 September 2020 and 16 October 2020. The paper craft training used mainly the Japanese art of folding paper (Origami) to create items like flowers and animals. In the first session, the participants were taught to make an octagon box which can be used as a trinket box or gift box. During the second session, the participants were taught on making paper tubes which can be used to make pencil holders and multipurpose organizers. On the last session, the participants were taught on how to create paper lanterns which can be used to decorate homes specially during Christmas season. The training was conducted in collaboration with Mr. Leo Domingo of Cornerstone. This is one of the training programs under the capacity building and reintegration program of the POLO which is intended to mainstream OFWs into the Philippine society upon their return to the country. |
